BABY PICS
Birth | New Brunswick, NJ
"In the beginning, God created Alan ..." and saw that extremely oversized sweaters were good. You know, I honestly remember that photo being taken ... I kid you, not! I recall being engulfed in this way-too-large sweater ... cozy as I have ever known; the warmth, the softness, the comfort and the security I felt ... well, it was simply overwhelming. You're looking at the photo my Dad carried in his wallet ... for 38 years ... from the day it was taken, until the day he died.
Age 3 | Nixon, NJ
This is me at 2 or 3 years of age ... contemplating the meaning of candy ... and wondering when I would be able to get my first guitar - the matter of learning how to comunicate this idea, however, did take some time ...
Age 4 1/2 | New Brunswick, NJ
Here I am at 4 1/2 years old ... posing for my own baseball card; thinking of the Brooklyn Dodgers - my Dad's favorite team, and mine too, at the time ... p.s. - those are the railroad tracks I wrote about in Planet of Love ... the hallowed grounds where I met "Little Suzie." You can see the right side of a building; we lived over on the left side ... these were Army barracks, converted into low-income housing for WWII Vets ... gone now, of course ... these days, the football stadium for New Brunswick High School (on Livingston Avenue) covers the ground I'm standing on. Next to that, is me sittin' on Superman's lap (my Dad, age 35), in the livingroom of our home -- mentioned above.
Alan's Dad & Mom | New Brunswick, NJ | 1938 & 1944
Here's a favorite picture of my Dad ... standing at a familiar location of a park where we held many of our family picnics - downtown New Brunswick, New Jersey ... circa - the late '30s. And, next to that, is the woman he married ... the woman I'll always love most in this world ... my Mom (sitting with her firstborn, my oldest sister, Adele).
